Trauma Informed Social Work

There are places on the new course Trauma Informed Social Work. this course is aimed at social workers in adult social care.

You will gain an overview of trauma, how trauma manifests (throughout the lifespan, with an emphasis on adulthood), and the principles of trauma-informed practice as a way of addressing trauma and helping adults to become safe and stable.

Learning Objectives

After completing this course you will be able to:

- review the causes of trauma and impact on children, adults and families (including transgenerational trauma) – you will be required to do some brief reading in advance which will be provided to you

- recognise trauma responses, understanding resilience and post traumatic growth in ourselves and the people we work with

- practice skills and share resources in responding in a sensitive and relationship based way to trauma

- review the learning and embed new skills into practice – online learning platform of resources subsequent to your training

Course duration: 1 day with half day follow up.
