Code: BH 21/056 Civica Purchasing - Approval Managers 2021 (Captivate)

Civica Purchasing is the computer package that Brighton & Hove City Council staff use to order goods and services from suppliers. 

The elearning is for Approval Managers and contains the following lessons:                       

  • Glossary of Terms
  • Getting Started
  • Approving a Requisition
  • Rejecting a Requisition
  • Overriding Insufficient Funds
  • Part Approving a Requisition
  • Approving an Amended Purchase Order

You will be tested on:

  • Approving a Requisition

At the end of the test you will be shown your score.  You must achieve 100%. This will allow you to download a certificate which in turn will allow Financial Information Systems (FIS) to send you a password and link to access the Civica Purchasing system. 


Code: BH 21/053 Civica Purchasing: Purchasers 2021

This course is aimed at Brighton Council Staff who use Civica. There is a similar course for SDNPA

 

Civica Purchasing is the computer package that Brighton & Hove City Council staff use to order goods and services from suppliers.

The elearning shows how to use Civica Purchasing and contains the following lessons:

  • Glossary of Terms
  • Getting Started
  • Ordering from Office Depot
  • Ordering Goods & Services
  • Receiving Goods & Services
  • Purchase Order Enquiry
  • Cancelling Goods & Services (Return to Supplier)

 

You will be tested on:

  • Ordering Goods & Services
  • Receiving Goods & Services

At the end of the test you will be shown your score. You must achieve 100%. This will generate a certificate which in turn will allow Financial Information Systems (FIS) to send you a password and link to access the Civica Purchasing system. 

If you do not achieve 100% you will be asked to retake the test.  You can do this at any time.

You can refer to the elearning at any point.

Code: BH 21/003 Corporate Purchasing Cards: Approvers (Smartdata)

This course is aimed at council staff and those who access the Corporate Purchasing Cards systems as Approvers

This course is designed to give the Approver a thorough knowledge and understanding of the Purchasing Cards scheme, how the Cardholder must use their card in accordance with the scheme guidelines and the responsibilities within the role of an Approver. This course also provides guidance on using the Deecal System, which is used to control and monitor Purchasing Cards transactions.

This course is designed to give the Cardholder a thorough knowledge and understanding of the Purchasing Card scheme and how to use their card in accordance with the scheme guidelines. Code: BH 19/009 Financial Management for Budget Holders

This course has been designed specifically for Budget Holders and other members of staff who have day to day financial management responsibilities.

The aim of the training is to provide a consistent approach to financial management across Brighton & Hove City Council and to provide Budget Holders with the necessary tools to be able to fulfil their financial management role.

This package is a pre-requisite before attending the second phase of training which will be a workshop based session providing a more in-depth, practical hands on approach.

To ensure the effectiveness of the workshops, Budget Holders will only be able to attend a workshop session once they have completed this elearning.

Please note whilst the majority of the budget management content is still valid some elements may be out of date and are due to be updated.

Code: BH 19/015 Fraud Awareness

All staff should complete this course

 

Brighton & Hove City Council has a zero tolerance towards fraud and is committed to stamping out fraud and corruption. 

We all need to know what fraud is and need to be vigilant inside and outside of work to prevent, tackle and report fraud wherever we may encounter it.

This course will:

  • explain what fraud is and the importance of tackling it
  • encourage you to think about the fraud risks in your service
  • discuss your role in preventing, detecting and reporting fraud
  • tell you how suspected fraud can be reported

 

This is part of the mandatory e-learning induction for all new starters and should be revisited by all staff every three years to refresh knowledge and be kept up to date with any developments.

The modules can be viewed at any time and staff who use the Civica Purchasing - Approval Managers system occasionally will also find the modules in this course useful as a refresher. 

 

This course has seven modules for you to access. Following these is a test which must be passed before you can be granted access to the Civica Purchasing system.
Each module will take about 10 minutes to complete.
